In the playing career of Tara Vanderveer, her memorable experience against Queens College is still fresh in her memory. It was a point in time that she was leading her team towards an AIAW finals appearance as a player but unfortunately, her team lost to Queens College during the semi finals of the AIAW basketball women’s division. It was a huge loss for Tara Vanderveer and her team because during that time when she faced Queens College, it was a peak of her career as a player but her team lost to that particular university. But even though she was unsuccessful leading her team as a player during that time around, another door of opportunity opened for her and that door was the opportunity of coaching a team.

Tara Vanderveer did not coach Queens College but she first coached Ohio State University before coaching Stanford University. She had tremendous success as a coach compared as a player but I am not saying that she is not a good player during her era, she is a great player but she was more successful becoming a coach of a team compared to being a player. Tara Vanderveer is very smart and intelligent that’s why people could say she is a better coach compared to a player. During her career, she achieved so many things, as a coach I should say and not as a player.

Right now in 2014, the NCAA women’s basketball division respects and values Tara Vanderveer because of her great contribution to the league. She helped inspired players and a lot of people to play the game of basketball with a tremendous effort. It is just rightful enough in my own opinion that Tara Vanderveer will be a part of the NCAA hall of fame coaches once she will retire from the league and I know that it will happen sooner or later. She had served her team and the league for a very long time.
